이 합창을 이해하기 위해서는 가사에 쓰인 요한계시록에 있는 셩경 말씀을
알아야 하므로 그 말씀들을 우선 소개합니다.
 1. 19장 6절 :
또 내가 들으니 허다한 무리의 음성도 같고 많은 물소리도 같고 큰 뇌성 같아서 가로되
[할렐루야 주 우리 하나님 곧 전능하신 이가 통치하시리로다.]

2. 11장 15절 :
일곱째 천사가 나팔을 불매 하늘에 큰 음성들이 나서 가로되
[세상나라가 우리 주와 그 그리스도의 나라가 되어 그가 세세(영원)토록 왕노릇 하시리로다.]

3. 19장 16절 :
그 옷과 그 다리에 이름 쓴 것이 있으니
[만왕의 왕이요, 만주의 주] 라 하였더라.

이 합창은 헨델의 3부작 오라토리오 [메시아] 중에서 제2부의 마지막 합창곡입니다.

이 합창의 빠르기는 알레그로(빠르게)로 되어 있지만
지정된 빠르기는 모데라토(보통 빠르기)로 되어 있습니다.

이 합창은 처음부터 끝까지 조성의 변화없이 D(라)장조로 되어 있습니다.

이 합창은 성경 구절 대로 크게 세부분으로 되어 있으며
[할렐루야]의 두개의 동기와 [왕의 왕, 또 주의 주]의 동기, 그리고 세개의 주제
1. 전능의 주가 다스리신다. 2. 이 세상 나라가 우리 주 그리스도의 나라가 되고,
3. 또 그가 길이 다스리시리라.
로 되어 있습니다.
